Important updates relating to the ACS documents and fees
8/3/2009 11:54:00 PM
Updates to ACS deadlines, documents and submission requirements have been announced with immediate effect. Both old and new forms will be accepted until end of October 2009. New statistical reports are now on the website. Increases in applicant fees will be in force from January 2010.
DEADLINES
The deadlines and interview dates for 2009 and 2010 are now available on this website.
FEES
The last Board meeting of the ACS approved small increases in Applicant's fees for all applications received on or after January 1st 2010. These are to account for rises in rail travel costs for assessors.
The new fees from January 1 2010 will be as follows.
Applicants who are current members of ACS Member Professional Bodies:
- 4-year route - £155.00
- 6-year route - £195.00
- Developing Sciences - £255.00
Applicants who are members of approved professional bodies will receive a subsidy from that body to reduce their ACS application fees as shown above. The list of professional bodies subsidising application fees is given on the application form and on the website.
(Please note - you must be a full member of the listed organisation - those with trade union only membership of the Federation of Clinical Scientists do not qualify for this subsidy.)
Applicants who are not current members of ACS Member Professional Bodies:
- 4-year route - £280.00
- 6-year route - £280.00
- Developing Sciences - £330.00
Single Competency Re-submission (all applicants) - £80.00
DOCUMENTS
All ACS documents have undergone a period review and appear on this website for immediate use. The Application Form and Appendix ONE are included in the documents showing changes but there will be a period of grace during which the old documents will still be accepted. The old documents will not be accepted for applications received after October 31st 2009.
The main changes made are for purposes of clarification but you should especially note the following -
- Application form - now requires passport photograph attached and has a question related to equal opportunites similar to the HPC application form. Photographic identity from a passport or driving licence MUST be produced at interview for all interviews held after September 1st 2009, as has already been notified to applicants upon submission. This is in addition to the photograph required on the new application forms.
- The Appendix ONE competence table has been re-mapped to the revised HPC competences. Furthermore, the title of the old "Management" competences has been amended to "Professional Affairs" competences to better reflect the nature of that topic. It is important to realise that absolutely no changes to the actual competences or what ACS applicants have to provide results from these changes.
There are now extensive statistical reports on application numberss, results of interviews, length of interviews and competences which cause failures - these can be found in the REPORTS section of this website.
